A Parte em cujo território o presente Acordo for assinado submetê-lo-á para registo junto do Secretariado das Nações Unidas imediatamente após a sua entrada em vigor, nos termos do artigo 102.º da Carta das Nações Unidas, devendo, igualmente, notificar a outra Parte da conclusão deste procedimento e indicar-lhe o número de registo atribuído.
Feito em Amã aos 17 de Fevereiro de 2008, em dois originais, nas línguas portuguesa, árabe e inglesa, fazendo todos os textos igualmente fé. Em caso de divergência de interpretação, prevalecerá a versão em língua inglesa.

COOPERATION AGREEMENT IN THE FIELD OF TOURISM BETWEEN THE PORTUGUESE REPUBLIC AND THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN
The Portuguese Republic and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, hereinafter referred to as the Parties;
Conscious of the importance of tourism and its contribution to promote broader friendly relations between the two nations;
Striving to develop tourist relations between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit;
Considering the interest of establishing a legal framework for the cooperation in the field of tourism;
have agreed as follows:
Article 1
Subject
The Parties shall strive to strengthen and develop cooperation in the field of tourism in order to improve the understanding of the history and culture of both nations. This cooperation will be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this agreement and with the national legislation of each of the Parties.
Article 2
Promotion
The Parties shall facilitate the increase of tourism exchange between Jordan and Portugal by promoting closer cooperation between the corresponding firms and organizations involved in tourist activities. The Parties shall encourage, on a reciprocal basis, the distribution of tourist publications and advertising materials in the two countries. They shall also encourage and sponsor «tourist weeks», using all possible and available technologies, like satellite television channels and Internet facilities as highly required for promotion and advertising campaigns.
Article 3
Role of the private sector
The Parties underline the role of private sector in the field of tourist exchange and shall assist commercial private firms in executing their programs to the best of their abilities.
Article 4
Professional training
The Parties may cooperate in the field of vocational training. They shall therefore initiate an exchange program between their respective competent bodies for such training, including educational trips and attendance of special seminars, aiming to offer the participants the knowledge of tourism sector in each country.
Article 5
Cooperation actions
The Parties shall encourage the exchange of experiences in the fields of recreation, health and religious tourism, as a mean of mutual cultural understanding.
Article 6
Exchange of experts
The Parties shall create favourable conditions for the exchange of experts and scientists specialized in the field of tourism, as well as supporting cooperation between research institutions in this field.
Article 7
World Tourism Organization
The Parties shall coordinate the cooperation of their governmental bodies in charge of tourism, within the framework of the World Tourism Organization and other international organizations.
Article 8
Investment
The Parties shall facilitate the flow of information regarding investment opportunities, specially in the field of tourism, in both countries.
Article 9
Settlement of disputes
Any dispute concerning the interpretation or application of the present Agreement shall be settled through negotiation, through the diplomatic channels.
Article 10
Amendments
1 - The present Agreement may be amended by request of one of the Parties.
2 - The amendments shall enter into force in accordance with the terms specified in article 12 of the present Agreement.
Article 11
Duration and termination
1 - The present Agreement shall remain in force for successive and automatically renewable periods of five years.
2 - Either Party may denounce the present Agreement upon a notification, in writing through diplomatic channels, at least six months prior to its expiry date.
3 - The termination of this Agreement shall not affect the implementation of programmes and projects drawn up while this Agreement was in force unless the Parties agree to otherwise.
Article 12
Entry into force
The present Agreement shall enter into force thirty days after the date of receipt of the later of the notifications, in writing through diplomatic channels, conveying the completion of the internal procedures of each Party required for that purpose.
Article 13
Registration
Upon the entry into force of the present Agreement, the Party in whose territory it is signed shall transmit it to the Secretariat of the United Nations for registration, in accordance with article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations, and shall notify the other Party of the completion of this procedure as well as of its registration number.
Done at Amman on the 17th February 2008, in two original copies in portuguese, arabic and english languages, all texts being equally authentic. In case of divergence of interpretation the english text shall prevail.
