O presente Acordo será válido por um período de cinco anos e entrará em vigor na data da troca de notas pelas quais cada uma das Partes Contratantes informe a outra Parte Contratante de que se encontram confirmadas as disposições legais relevantes e será renovado automaticamente por períodos sucessivos de cinco anos, a menos que uma das Partes Contratantes notifique a outra Parte Contratante por escrito e seis meses antes de expirado o prazo de validade do acordo da sua intenção de o fazer cessar.
Feito em Lisboa em 29 de Julho de 1991, em dois exemplares em cada uma das línguas portuguesa, hindi e inglesa, sendo todos os textos igualmente autênticos. Em caso de dúvida, o texto inglês prevalecerá.

AGREEMENT ON COOPERATION ON TOURISM BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF PORTUGAL AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF INDIA.
The Government of the Republic of Portugal and the Government of the Republic of India hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties:
Considering the historical ties of friendship and understanding that unite the two peoples;
Recognising the increasing importance of tourism as a means of fostering closer relations and factor of economic and social development of the two countries;
Convinced of the necessity to promote cooperation between the two countries in tourism;
Determined to develop a fruitful cooperation with the spirit of equality of mutual interest and reciprocal benefits;
have agreed as follows:
Article 1
The Contracting Parties shall take necessary measures to encourage and estimulate the tourist movements between the two countries.
Article 2
The Contracting Parties shall promote, within their possibility and based on reciprocal benefit, the cooperation between their official tourist organisations, as well as between the respective enterprises and institutions in the field of tourism.
Article 3
The Contracting Parties shall cooperate in carrying out and developing joint projects and investments in tourism.
Article 4
The Contracting Parties shall establish an effective exchange of knowledge and experience concerning various sectors of tourist activity, namely relating to legislation, statistical information, equipment, professional training and tourist planning.
Article 5
In accordance with the national legislation, the printed material, including the tourism promotion material, advertising material will enjoy the treatment of goods exempt from customs and other import duties. The Contracting Parties will also organise tourist weeks, films, TV programmes, etc., with a view to better mutual information on tourist values of the two countries.
Article 6
The Contracting Parties shall strive to facilitate and expedite the issue of necessary tourist visas to the citizens of the Party having effective and valid travel documents.
Article 7
The Contracting Parties shall establish a joint commission on tourism cooperation to monitor and suggest measures for the implementation of this Agreement.
The joint commission shall meet alternately in India and Portugal on mutually agreable dates.
Article 8
The present Agreement shall be effective for a period of five years and shall enter into force on the date of exchange of notes by which the Contracting Parties inform each other that relevant legal procedures have been accomplished and will be automatically renewed for successive periods of five years at a time unless either Contracting Party notifies the other Contracting Party in writing of its intention to terminate the Agreement at least six months before the expiry of the Agreement.
In witness whereof, the undersigned, being duly authorized thereto by their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement.
Done at Lisbon on the 29th July 1991 into two originals each in Portuguese, Hindi and English languages all texts being equally authentic. In case of doubt, the English text shall prevail.
